Our Newtlings Programme

At The Newt, children are encouraged to step outside in every season, discovering the joy of fresh air, muddy boots and curious minds – whatever the weather. From climbing trees and following winding nature trails to forest school adventures, hands-on building and thoughtful crafting, the Newtlings Programme invites young explorers to learn by doing, guided by the rhythms of the land.

May Half Term

The weather is warming, the gardens are awash with colour, and we're ready to help lighten the load over half term with a selection of activities for Newtlings of all ages.

Explore the Spring Trail as a Newt honeybee, enjoy trees from on high at a Tree Climbing session, learn a new craft at our Beeswax Candle Workshop, and experience life as a beekeeper at our 'Inside the Hive' Newtlings Short. Plus, Forest School, Falconry and more.

Holiday Forest School

Whether you're looking for a morning activity or a full day of fun, our Forest School runs in holidays throughout the year and encourages hands on learning and practical skills led by nature.

Seasonal Trails

Updated throughout the year, our seasonal trails blend learning, storytelling and exploration, plotting a new route across the estate as the year progresses.

Tapping into the promise of spring, the energy of summer, or the quiet magic of winter, each trail traces its way through our gardens and green spaces, with moments of curiosity and special surprises woven in.

Shorts, Crafts and Outdoor Activities

All Newtlings activities are rooted in the estate’s craft and expertise. From horticulture and ecology to engineering and making, these sessions offer focused moments of fun and learning that are practical, engaging and distinctly ‘Newt’. Some workshops are longer, but we also run 'Shorts' which keep things bitesized.

Previous activities have included Junior Bird Box Making, Beekeepers – Inside the Hive and Forest to Fire Wild Cooking. Tree Climbing is a returning favourite, alongside seasonal specials like Christmas and Easter craftmaking.

The Newtlings Code

We want every Newtling to feel safe, happy and free to explore. Our Newtlings Culture Code helps ensure that time spent with us is respectful, supportive and secure for all. We ask that families take a moment to familiarise themselves with this ahead of any session, particularly for experiences where children attend independently.

Roam and Discover

Wandering the grounds you'll find plenty of entertainment for young adventurers. From the Viper to the Snail Mound, grab a map and go explore!
