Good Tidings
This year we’re keeping winter well thanks to time honoured Newt traditions, along with some new surprises for the season.
The days may be dark, but spirits stay high across the estate with social moments at workshops and festive dinners, a new Christmas trail for Newtlings, the warm embrace of the Fire Pit, Winter Garden and Garden Café, and deliciously crisp walks and tours through the gardens.
Meet St Nicholas
Cosily ensconced in the Gardener’s Cottage, St Nicholas brings rosy-cheeked cheer to the estate once more, in a seasonal highlight for Newtlings and grown ups alike. Windows aglow and gifts piled high, this enchanting experience is not to be missed.
Due to the popularity of meeting St Nic (he’s a busy man at this time of year), pre-booking is essential.
Dates and time slots will be announced in October. Until then, join our waiting list, so you're amongst the first to know.
Christmas After Hours: 19 December
On the 19th we’ll be lighting up our towering tree, bringing jollyness with a brass band, chorusing carols through the dark and waiting for an appearance from a very special guest.
At our after hours festive evening, our stores will open late for a spot of Christmas shopping, with tastings taking place in our new Wine Vault. The Cyder Bar is on hand to provide steamy cups of mulled cyder, festive toasties and crumble-topped mince pies, and we promise a warm, lively atmosphere all the way through to 9pm.
Appetites awakened? Book into the Garden Café for a special communal-style dinner menu.
Share the Joy
While we’re not short of ideas for stockings, larders and under-the-tree surprises, you can also turn to us for gifts that last a little longer…
Gifting a membership lets people unwrap nature all year long – not just at The Newt, but at our 20 partner gardens. Or, gift a voucher to a loved one for one of our workshops, Afternoon Tea, spa days and more.
Eat, Drink & Be Merry
In the season of good cheer, no one needs an excuse to raise a toast, sit down to an indulgent feast, or pull up a chair with loved ones, colleagues and friends. Our eateries will be brimming with festive flavours given a Newt spin, so book in for celebratory dinners, new menus, and insightful tastings.
An Enchanted Trail
This festive season at The Newt, little ones can step into a world of wonder with our Enchanted Trail inspired by a kindly badger who keeps watch over the woodland creatures (no booking necessary) inspired by Saint Nicholas and the folklore of the Somerset woods.
This is an adventure designed to spark imagination, warmth, and festive joy for families to share.
