Designed for curious and creative children, our summer art club introduces a range of artistic techniques through hands-on, artist-led workshops. Each session begins with drawing games and creative warm-ups that build confidence, observation skills and imagination, before introducing a new artistic process to explore.

Week 2 - The Art of Gyotaku & Nature Prints
Explore the traditional Japanese art of Gyotaku (fish printing), originally used by fishermen to record their catches, before the invention of photography. Using high-quality Indian ink, rice paper and a selection of fish and sea creatures, children will create beautiful prints while learning about marine life. The session also introduces monoprinting with plasticine and found natural objects.

Children are also encouraged to bring a special natural treasure, such as a leaf, feather or seed pod, to incorporate into their artwork.

Please note: The fish used in this session are sustainably caught and will be used after the workshop (the artists guiding the session cook them for dinner!), so that they don’t go to waste.

Children aged 7+ are encouraged to attend independently, whilst children aged 5 & 6 are warmly welcome with an accompanying adult.
