Our resident flower growers and arrangers lead guests through the cut-flower beds of the Farmyard, teaching how to select flowers, where to cut and how to prepare before creating floral displays.

The day begins with an introduction to floriculture by Maiko, our spectacularly accomplished floricuturist. You shall then be buggied through the cyder orchards to the Farmyard Hotel's cut-flower beds. Maiko will teach you how to cultivate your own cut-flower beds at home: how to read your site, what varieties to plant, when to plant, how to keep on top of weeds and pests, and how to plan for successional, seasonal blooms.

The second part of the workshop focuses on floristry and sees you return to the College Room to explore the abundance of flowers and green material to choose from as you begin to create your own floral arrangements, which you will take home with you after lunch.

Includes: Tea & coffee on arrival with the Bakery’s signature cinnamon bun, ending with lunch.

"Maiko was professional and friendly, aswering questions and queries, willing to share her experiences and knowledge. A pleasure to meet her. Refreshing. A great course, thoroughly enjoyed the flower arranging in a relaxed space and the delicious lunch afterwards." - Mary

"I really enjoyed my floristry course at the Newt, due to the small class size the day felt really personable and that it could be tailored to what we wanted to get out of it. The ability to do what you are learning yourself is really valuable as well. It has encouraged me to book another course in the future." - Brenna
