Dry Stone Walling (October)
3 October / 9:30am
Learn the basics behind the art of drystone walling on this introductory course
£ 150 per person.
Drystone walls are an important part of the Somerset rural identity and have been so for millennia. Building drystone walls is not only hugely satisfying physically, but it also promotes mindfulness and time for healthy reflection.
The day begins with a brief introduction on the history, theory and design of drystone walls with celebrated drystone waller Tom Trouton. You learn how to build any or all of the following:
dry stone wall,
retaining wall,
moon gate,
fire pit,
ornamental pear statue,
water feature,
Exmoor bank,
cobbling,
paving
We suggest wearing steel-toe cap boots and sturdy clothes.
