A world-class naturalistic garden on the East Coast of the USA, Winterthur is set within 1,000 acres of rolling hills, streams, meadows and forests. A masterpiece of lyrical colour combinations with a year-round succession of bloom, the garden was created by Henry Francis du Pont in the early 20th century. Inspired by his love of the land to create a unified work of art that embodies a romantic vision of nature’s beauty, the views in every direction are thoughtfully designed and integral to the whole. Curving paths follow the contours of the land, passing around trees and drawing visitors into the garden. Explore the 60-acre garden on foot, or on a narrated tram ride, from March to December.
