Please note the Roman Villa Museum will be CLOSED to the public on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13, as we operate private guided tours. The Villa and Courtyard will be open as usual.

Saturday 12 & Sunday 13 April
Legio Secunda Augusta
Our Roman Villa team will be joined by our friends at Legio Secunda Augusta, a passionate roman living history group based in the South West, a must see for Newtlings and Newts alike.
12:00-12:30pm - A captivating Military show, audience participation encouraged!
2:00-2:30pm - Enjoy a thrilling reenactment of battling Gladiators!

Shire Horse Carriage Rides - 11:00-2:00pm
Free Carriage Rides will be running between the Deer Park and Roman Villa, so hitch a lift and meet Royal and Goose, two beautiful white Shire horses.
Wednesday 16 April
Pottery - 9:30-4:30pm
Budding potters and historians alike will have the chance to learn a little about Roman pottery, how things were made and have the chance to get their hands dirty making decorative Antefixs' (part of the Roman roof tile system)
Fletching - 9:30-4:30pm
Join Breffni from the Roman Villa team who will be leading a fascinating arrow making craft activity and explaining the evolution of arrows from Stone Age to the War Of The Roses. Perfect for middle sized Newts (8 +) who will have the chance to learn how to bind on the feathers.

Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 April - Easter Weekend
Spinning & Weaving Demonstrations- 9:30-4:00pm
The Roman Villa team will be joined by Pennie Dunn, who will be working with traditional tools to spin rough wool into thread, showcase the natural dying process and weaving fabric. Guests can join in on the loom to have a go at weaving their own panel to take home!
Life Of A Slave - 9:30-4:30pm
Alisa Vanlint will join our brilliant Villa team to bring to the fore, the life of a slave - expect interactive tours, and fascinating insights into the grim reality of what it would have been like as a slave in Roman times!
