Guided by Bath-based artist and lecturer Fhiona McKie, take inspiration from the estate’s wild landscapes and cultivated gardens, where sculptural plant forms, intricate patterns and subtle colours offer a wealth of artistic possibilities.

From the delicate structure of a seed head to the sweeping lines of bare branches, winter reveals details that are easily overlooked. Explore how changing light and weather shape the atmosphere of the landscape, gathering ideas from the grounds to bring into the warmth of the College Room.

Throughout the day, Fhiona will introduce a range of approaches to drawing, painting and expressive mark-making. Experiment with paint, pastels, charcoal and inks, and create your own drawing tools from natural plant materials to discover unexpected marks and textures.

With gentle guidance and encouragement, you’ll develop a series of personal artworks inspired by the shapes, structures and moods of the season. This is a chance to brighten a winter’s day, try something new and enjoy the pleasure of creating in a relaxed, supportive setting.

Suitable for beginners and those with experience alike.
