A place of education and inspiration for the gardening community worldwide, Great Dixter was the family home of writer-gardener, Christopher Lloyd. The focus of his energy and enthusiasm throughout his lifetime, the garden merges the natural and cultivated world, inspiring a generation of gardeners to challenge traditional conventions. Its wild flower meadows, scattered ponds, old walls and borders bursting with layer upon layer of planting, provide a rich and exuberant environment for all manner of flora and fauna to flourish. Now under the stewardship The Great Dixter Charitable Trust, lead by Head Gardener and Chief Executive Fergus Garrett, Lloyd’s legacy is ever-growing in what remains the most dynamic, experimental and pioneering garden, with biodiversity and sustainability at its heart.
