Newtlings Shorts: October Half Term

Our many mini masterclasess in nature! From fire-making to den building, wildlife tracking and more, each drop off session lasts an hour and a half. Learn more and book in for the session perfect for your little Newtling!

Our Newtling Shorts are mini masterclasses based around all things Nature! Some sessions will be based in the Woodland Newtlings 'Base Camp', whilst others will be in and around the gardens and wider estate. Our aim is to spark wonder & curiosity and nurture creative & adventurous young minds.

- Wildlife Investigators - Tuesday 28 October (multiple sessions available)

Children can join Martha and Tome for an adventurous exploration of the hidden lives of animals, learning to track footprints, follow trails, and discover wildlife signs. Acting as nature detectives, they will uncover minibeasts, bird clues, and mammal tracks, revealing the mysteries of the wild world around them.

- Bug Architects - Tuesday 28 October (multiple sessions available)

Join education leader Martha and expert gardener Ruby for a hands-on mini-masterclass in designing and building your very own bug hotels. Help us grow our bug hotel village here at The Newt, and craft a special one to take home. Get creative using natural materials and give those busy little bugs a cosy place to hang out.

- Dens & Shelters - Saturday 25 October (multiple sessions available)

Join Forest School Leader Kevin, for a hands-on den-building adventure, learning how to create sturdy shelters from natural materials like branches, sticks, and leaves. Using teamwork and imagination, Newtlings will design and build their own woodland hideaway to play in and enjoy.

- Camouflage, Stealth & Survival Skills - Sunday 26 October (multiple sessions available)

Join Forest School Leader Kevin for a mini-masterclass in moving like woodland creatures, learning to blend in, creep quietly, and stay hidden in nature. Through games, challenges, and survival tips, Newtlings will sharpen their senses and master the art of leaving no trace, just like animals of the forest!

- Fire Making Skills - Saturday 1 November - (multiple sessions available)

Join Forest School Leader Kevin for a fiery mini-masterclass, where Newtlings will learn the ancient art of making fire by sparking, nurturing, and safely building flames. With hands-on practice, games, and marshmallow toasting, they’ll gain confidence in this essential outdoor skill.
