Hadspen House is the much-loved ancestral home at the heart of The Newt in Somerset. Formal gardens terrace down from its honey-hued walls, spreading over acres of deer park and country walks. But it’s only a home with you in it. So we have been excitedly preparing for guests to return this week. The fires are lit, lawns trimmed, linens pressed. Adventure and indulgence await, with a distinctly Somerset touch…

Arcadia

Gardens and parkland are a playground for pursuits, made to be explored. From dawn walks to running trails and wandering the Deer Park. Fancy a spot of fishing or horse riding? We know the best local spots, too.

Arthurian

Somerset is the land of ancient ritual and mythology. Channel your inner pagan and discover Arthurian legend on the estate, or beyond the grounds with a ramble to nearby Cadbury Castle and Glastonbury Tor.

Elemental

Food is freshly pulled from the earth and adorned with little more than the charred lines of our wood-fired grill. Estate venison licked with flames; local trout smoked over oak; garden vegetables roasted in the embers.

Medieval

New for reopening – laid out in monastic style, the Medieval Herb Garden in our Spa is planted with herbs that encourage the body to heal itself, relieving your ailments and reviving your spirits.

Pomona

We don’t quite sip cyder at breakfast as farm folk used to, but we do make our own fruity tipple. Drink in the legacy of cyder country with cellar tastings, food pairings and orchard tours.

Sundown

Make time before dinner, soaking in ‘golden hour’ as the sun slips behind the house. Music, merriment, bartenders who share their secrets and cocktails that are guided by the gardens.

Slumber

Keep the shutters closed, ignore the cockerel and wake up feeling replenished; because our beds are simply too comfy to hurry out of.
