A Country Estate, Reimagined

ANNOUNCEMENT 24th NOVEMBER: DUE TO THE BAD WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE GARDENS AND ESTATE ARE CLOSED, THE BOTANICAL ROOMS, FARMYARD KITCHEN AND THE CREAMERY REMAIN OPEN.

Our working estate in Somerset has acres of splendid gardens, woodland, farmland and cyder orchards to explore. Stay a night or two—or become a member and see the landscape change throughout the year.

Festive Magic

With the moral of this year’s Christmas story in mind, there’s never been a better time to share in The Newt magic. Members and guests are invited to join us for a Christmas Showcase over the weekend 7 - 8 December, when the estate will be transformed into a wonderland of festive treats, gift inspiration and family fun. St Nicholas will be back in the Gardener’s Cottage to delight little ones, returning on weekends in December in the lead up to the big day. You’ll find the scent of spiced mulled cyder wafting through the Courtyard, seasonal displays popping up in the Threshing Barn and Farm Shops to help tick off your lists, and chefs going all in on the flavours of the season: on festive menus and grocery range online.

Awarded Prestigious Michelin Three Keys

We are thrilled to announce that we have recently been honoured with the highly coveted Three Keys Award by the Michelin Guide. This prestigious award, comparable to Michelin Stars for restaurants, recognises excellence in the world of hospitality.

The Michelin Key distinction celebrates hotels that excel in architecture, interior design, service quality, character, value for price, and contributions to their local communities. We’re proud to be one of only 14 properties in the UK and Ireland to receive this accolade, joining an elite group of industry leaders. It reflects the passion and dedication of our entire team. We invite you to celebrate this achievement with us and experience a truly extraordinary stay here at The Newt in Somerset.

The Creamery

Return to the Golden Age of travel at The Creamery, our new dairy and station cafe serving hearty British food within a complex of restored and reimagined Edwardian buildings.

As we venture outside the bounds of The Newt in Somerset gardens for first time, we look forward to welcoming locals and travellers to our latest addition. We are a dog friendly restaurant so please bring your well behaved best friend along.

Workshops

See. Hear. Smell. Taste. Feel. Exercise your senses, learn new skills, indulge new passions, explore new experiences, and gain new knowledge. Our seasonal programme of workshops is led by our expert team of specialists. We cover a diverse range of subjects from horticulture and ecology, heritage crafts and Dawn Walks, food and floriculture, cyder-making and mushroom foraying, and more. Book now and grow with us.

Great Garden Escape

Don't miss the train... Run away and experience all things Somerset. Once again, we will be embarking on a First Class adventure, whisking you from London Paddington to the heart of the West Country. Explore picturesque gardens and ancient woodland, discover the art of cyder making and enjoy the finest fare plucked from the soil beneath your feet. Finally relax back into your seat and savour the perfect afternoon tea, as the miles fly by and we return you to the city.

Dine at The Botanical Rooms

Enjoy elegant and seasonal dining, inspired by and gathered from your surroundings. We invite you to feast on estate vegetables, the choicest cuts from the salt room and dayboat fish from the Dorset coast. Savour the tasting menu, paired with Fine Cyder or something special from the house cellar.
